I suppose after 5 birthdays together with DGB, it was finally time to execute celebrating our birthdays together. We wanted something big, but due to getting a new job, etc, etc, life happening, etc, etc (for some reason this joint party fails every year lol) we instead busted out to Truckee!
We airbnb’d a cabin and gathered friends for the weekend — a cabin stay in Truckee instead of a big joint bash. It turned into a relaxed celebration of two birthdays at once, which is exactly what we had been missing for years.
Five Birthdays, One Trip
Every year the plan to celebrate together got pushed aside by work and the usual chaos of life. This time we let the smaller version win, and honestly, a cabin with friends was better than the big party we kept postponing.
What We Did
- Rented a cabin in Truckee for a weekend stay.
- Invited friends to join the joint birthday gathering.
- Kept it simple after a new job made a larger celebration unrealistic.
After five birthdays of trying, the first combined celebration ended up being the most relaxed one. Truckee gave us trees, cold air and a quiet place to actually be together — and I would happily do it again next year.
